Aberdeen share hilarious clip from much-loved comedy ahead of UECL clash with Eintracht Frankfurt

A SCOTS football team have shared a hilarious clip featuring the cities of both themselves and their opponents.

Aberdeen shared the hilarious clip online earlier this week in their build up to the fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt dubbing the game the ‘JLB derby‘.

The two sides will meet in their opening game of the UEFA Europa Conference League in Frankfurt this evening.

However ahead of the match the Scots side found humour in a clip from a much-loved British sitcom and opted to share it online.

The hilarious clip comes from Channel 4 sitcom ‘Peep Show’ which starred David Mitchell and Robert Webb as a pair of roommates living in London.

Mitchell’s character Mark is well-known as being a pencil pusher at credit firm JLB and in one particular episode manages to secure his friend Jeremy portrayed by Webb a job.

The company JLB has offices in Aberdeen which are often referenced and their parent company are based in Frankfurt, Germany.

However, the duo are left gutted as their tenure at JLB lasts less than a day before they are made redundant due to cuts.

It is this particular clip that Aberdeen have shared ahead of the match tonight which shows JLB boss Alan Johnson announcing the news.

The clip begins with Alan Johnson standing on a box addressing staff, he says: “So, listen up, I just got in from Aberdeen and I want to warn you that you’re probably going to be hearing a lot of rumours.

“But I can reassure you that Stefan Strauss and the rest in Frankfurt are doing everything they can.

“Talks are ongoing and everything’s looking promising.”

Aberdeen have then placed their club badge and that of Eintracht Frankfurt over the faces of Mark and Jeremy.

The club posted the video to social media earlier this week with the caption: “See you on Thursday Eintracht Frankfurt for the Peep Show JLB derby.”

The video has been liked more than 10,000 times with dozens of comments left by fans of the show and Aberdeen.

One wrote: “Chance would be a fine thing.”, to wrote a famous quote from Mark earlier on that episode.

Another commented: “We’re gonna get pumped.”

A third replied: “Not even an Aberdeen fan but this is top quality content.”

Another added: “They’re shutting down the profitable branches to save the mothership.”

A fifth responded: “Ominous clip given that the Aberdeen department falls apart and the Frankfurt one is the only one left.”

Aberdeen will hope that their European tour can provide a welcome distraction to their poor start in the league where they’ve picked up two points so far this season.

Eintracht Frankfurt sit ninth in the Bundesliga and have previous European pedigree over Scottish opponents having defeated Rangers to win the Europa League in 2021/22.

Yesterday also marked the 20th anniversary of Peep Show which remains a fan favourite comedy series.
